Glock 26 Gen 5
The Glock 26 Gen 5 has an honest ~5.25 pounds on RCBS trigger-pull gauge. Further, the weight is fairly consistent along the entire trigger pull. Unlike the earlier Glock trigger which had little resistance in the initial takeup before hitting a noticeable wall.
Glock 26 Gen 5 Upgrades
The introduction of the G26 Gen 5 meant that all the improvements to the rest of the Glock line would be applied to the new pistol. Therefore, your dollar goes just a bit further in buying a Gen 5 gun over Gen 3 or 4 pistols. Glock 26 didn’t get the flared magazine well since it would sort of ruin the concealability of the gun.
Shooting the G26 Gen 5
You might be wondering how the G26 Gen 5 shoots and how recoil is when shooting defensive ammunition. Interestingly, the dual recoil spring does quite a lot to absorb the recoil even though it is a tiny pistol. Other pistols that are roughly the same size just don’t handle the recoil quite as well for some reason.
You might notice that the groups are not always centered When shooting the pistol on NRA B8 targets. Shooting the Glock 26 offhand at the 25-yard line produced an impressive 6.034″ group with the Trijicon HD sights.
The Glock 26 seems to be the next best compromise between capacity, shootability, and concealability for a carry gun after the Glock 19. In addition, reliability and accuracy are on point and the felt recoil is well within acceptable ranges.
Final Thoughts About the G26 Gen 5
With the G26 Gen 5, you really aren’t leaving too much on the table if any at all when choosing a self-defense tool.
The G26 Gen 5 starts at an MSRP of $749 but can be found in the $560 to $600 range at online retailers like Brownells. Check out the Glock website for all of the specs and features that your heart desires.

Glock mags are the only mags I will use in my Glock pistols. Tried off brand mags in the past but they were never reliable. Never had any issues with the Glock brand mags. The 24 round mag works great with the Ruger 9mm carbine.

As a FORMER California resident, YIPPEE! Live in New Mexico now. Fits my G26 and my TNW- ASP 9mm perfectly! No jams. Absolutely zero problems. Good price, to boot! Highly recommend!!

I buy these (Glock originals only, not other brands or \”knock-offs\”) for use in my Kel-Tec Sub2000 Gen 2. Excellent gun, excellent magazine. I STRONGLY recommend getting a magazine loader (I use the Maglula UpLULA loader; works wonderfully), or you\’re going to get sore thumbs loading this bad boy. Getting that 33rd round in would be tough without a loader! This is not an indictment of the magazine, it\’s just the nature of the beast. The only downside I have seen is that I wish they were less expensive, then I could buy more of them. By the way, did I mention getting a magazine loader?
