This is my fourth Uberti and it is a wonderfully made replica firearm. The outside fit and finish can only be described as near-perfect. Both side plates fit so perfectly that the seams are almost invisible. The wood-to-metal fit is flawless with no unsightly gaps around the tang and butt plate. The blueing is an evenly applied deep blue-black. There are no polishing flaws on any of the external metal surfaces. I find the saddle ring a little irritating because is flops around, is noisy and leaves blemishes on the brass frame. In retrospect, I would probably have preferred the model without the saddle ring. (This is not a knock on the firearm and only represents my personal preference.) As with EVERY Uberti I have owned, the screws were way too tight. However, the screws on this particular firearm were not quite as difficult to remove as my other Ubertis. It is absolutely mandatory that hollow-ground gunsmith screwdriver bits be used to prevent damage to the screw heads. There was some polishing grit left inside the frame and a few small brass fragments left from the machining operations. I wish Uberti would clean their guns before they leave the factory. Doing so would immeasurably help their reputation and couldn\’t possibly be that expensive to do. At the range, the gun operated without a single malfunction and was quite accurate at 25 yards, but initially shot about 2 inches to the left. A firm tap to the right on the rear sight with a small hammer and a nylon drift punch put the bullets dead center on the target. I did not measure the trigger pull weight, but I can state that it\’s certainly not a target trigger. It was still manageable and comfortable to shoot, though. The .38 Special recoil is almost unnoticeable and the gun is a total joy to shoot. When one of these comes up for sale, grab it. It won\’t disappoint.
